Buckhead Kimpton
The history of Buckhead dates back long before its urban development, when the land was inhabited by Cherokee and Creek tribes. In the early 19th century, the area was traversed by the forces of Andrew Jackson before evolving into a key stopping point for both locals and travelers. Henry Irby established a tavern and grocery store in what was then known as Irbyville. According to legend, after killing a buck, he hung its head on a post—an act that gradually led people to refer to the place as “the buck’s head,” a name that would endure.
Echoing this layered history, this iconic 1950s Buckhead hotel has undergone a thoughtful renovation. The project seamlessly blends contemporary design with preserved Art Deco features. In the common areas, the rhythmic presence of U5 suspensions by Arpel Lighting defines the space and guides the visual flow. These luminaires integrate effortlessly into a modern aesthetic while maintaining the refined and graphic spirit of the Art Deco heritage.
